Welcome Mrs. Griffin :)

Today at Westwood we are welcoming a new teacher, Mrs. Griffin.  Superintendent Wreski recognized that our class sizes at Westwood were very large and granted us an additional position to provide our children the best education possible.  Mrs. Griffin will be teaching a 4-5combination classroom, bringing all of our class sizes down to 22 or 23 rather than our previous class size of 30-32.  Mrs. Griffin's students had the opportunity to meet her today as she visited the school and were given letters to take home tonight.  We are all looking forward to welcoming Mrs. Griffin to Westwood as she begins with her new class on Friday.

The Golden Key Club for August 17th

I'm very proud to say that all of our students have made this week's Golden Key Club.  These students worked hard, listened to directions and made our classroom a productive environment.

Thank you for "stopping in" to view our classroom blog.  Parents, please feel free to use the form I sent home today to "follow by email."  However, I do ask that you not post until the kids have received their classroom blog introduction and their blog "code."  This way we are sure to practice Internet safety!  Students will receive this information on Friday and our blog will become interactive at that time. 

Save the date!  Thursday, August 30, 2012 from 6:00-7:00 is Westwood Parent Back to School Night.  This special evening has been planned so parents can learn more about Westwood Elementary, the staff, and the great learning opportunities we have to offer our students and families!  We are requesting that only parents attend as no childcare will be provided during this event.  I look forward to seeing you all on August 30th!  :)

Welcome to 5th Grade!

Greetings Everyone!  Welcome to 5th grade!  I am so excited to be your teacher and embark on a wonderful adventure together for the  2012-2013 school year.  Our theme this year is, "Togetherness is the Key to Success."  I'm looking forward to meeting all of you next Wednesday, August 15th from 12:00-2:00pm.  Hopefully you can stop in, drop off your school supplies and say hello.

Our first day of school is Thursday, August 16th.  :)
