P.S.  If your child hasn't talked to yet about our team points for good transitions ask him/her about it.  They are truly taking it seriously and doing a wonderful job improving their transitions from one subject to another!  They are rocking my world!  :))))

Attention WEB book readers!!!!!

Attention WEB book readers!  We are in the midst of celebrating and sharing our first WEB projects of the school year.  It is also time to start thinking about grabbing that October WEB book.  Our next book project is due November 5th.  We have library tomorrow (Tuesday).  When you get that new WEB book chosen, be sure to post it's title on the Google doc to the right of your screen under the heading of WEB projects.
Once you've done that, make a new book diary and begin reading!

WEB Projects

This month's WEB project is due on September 24th.  This is the Monday that follows our camping trip!  We've talked a lot in class this week about how to map out our time and get that project completed BEFORE the camping trip!  The kids are going to be tired after the trip, and most likely not super motivated to complete a book project that weekend.   :) 

With that being said, I've suggested to all students that they finish their WEB book by this Sunday, September 10th.  This will give them a week and a half to complete the summary, cue cards and project.  The only thing they would have to do over the camping weekend is to practice their presentation.  This is only a recommendation, but a way to help yor child monitor their time and be prepared for their first 5th grade WEB project.

All forms, rubrics and paperwork for the projects is located on the right side of the blog in Google documents.  If you have trouble accessing them, please post below (using your code).  :)

Chapter one math test

Tomorrow, September 6th we will be having our first math test on Chapter one.  Students had a review assignment in class today.  Several may need to finish for homework.  All students were encouraged to bring home math books for additional practice even if the assignment was complete.  There is a review with examples on pages 40-42.
The areas I see that may be most challenging are: Estimating with Whole Numbers 1-2 and Order of Operations 1-4.
You can assist your son/daughter by reviewing the examples on these pages and checking over tonight's homework from page 43.  :)

Camping

Hi students and families!  As you know our 5th grade camping trip paperwork went home yesterday.  Kids, if you haven't shown this to your family yet please do so. 
Families, if possible please try to submit paperwork and payment by September 10th.  There is quite an extensive volunteer list attached to the paperwork.  You can help by donating your time, or helping us out with tents and supplies.  I will be contacting you the week of September 10th if you're volunteering time/items.
We are truly looking forward to a wonderful 5th grade camping trip. The kids are really excited.
