PJammin - February 3rd

In honor of "World Cancer Day" on February 3rd, We have signed up to participate in a program called PJammin.  As a Westwood Community, we are going to recognize the thousands of children that suffer from this horrible illness and spend months and months in the hospital.  These children miss out on going to school, being with their friends and spend months on end in a hospital bed in their Pajamas.
We'd like to have each child at Westwood Elementary to wear their pajamas to school on February 3rd as a symbolic way of reflecting on the amount of time children with cancer must wear their PJs.  We would also like to strive to raise money for the American Childhood Cancer Organization.  Each child that wears his/her PJs is asked to donate at least $1 for the organization, and they will receive a temporary tattoo to wear with their Pjs that day.
The 4th and 5th grades at Westwood are sponsoring this event by helping to raise awareness among the school community.  4th grades will be making posters and collection boxes for classroom funds.  The 5th grade students will travel to other classrooms to notify the students and and motivate them to participate in this event.
We are hoping this experience raises awareness about childhood cancer, helps to raise money for the foundation and brings an enriching experience to our student community.  When we bond together we truly make a difference!
